My Finnish friend said something that changed the way I view my stuff.

He said “Good things for good people and shit for shit people.”

What he meant by this is that instead of giving away your good things to people you don’t know (and they might just end up garbage dumping it), give your stuff to the people you know and love who would appreciate it.

When I got back to my apartment, I realized I had so much stuff I just wanted to throw out but didn’t know where to give it and didn’t want it to end up in landfills.

Ex: My rain boots that are in great condition but not waterproof enough for me. My dad used to go fishing a lot in the rain and my boots would be perfect for him.

Old t-shirts that I could turn into cleaning rags but instead, I’ll give it to my no-nonsense, non-materialistic older brother who only cares about having a few shirts.

The list goes on.

I’m sure many people in this sub already know this but this was a game-changer for me.
