How meaningless do you think modern work has become?

I (30F) feel that technology has reduced many jobs to mindless button press automation.

I used to work at a call center where we just read through a script in detail to the customer. The software would navigate the web browser for us to set up their account for them. Our call scripting software would always note what step we were on and automatically click the next button for us. It would also highlight the specific text we needed to read from on the website.

I read a recent thread here where someone made upwards of $1.2 million a year by essentially learning how to use ChatGPT plugins to create custom software that his company could use to complete tasks. He’s now creating a business for himself based on this.

I feel like most white collar jobs are becoming like these 2 scenarios. What are your thoughts? Do you feel your job is meaningless, or do you feel it’s a creative outlet for yourself? Do you feel you’re heavily contributing to society?

Edit: I even think things like therapy can be automated at this point too with ChatGPT being able to understand and respond to tone. The more I think about it, the more meaningless it seems.
