I came across a video from a genuinely real news channel... and it seemed a little too real.

^ first disclaimer, I partially don't want to post this on r/conspiracy, r/unpopularopinion, r/goldenknights, etc because I don't want people to think I'm just shilling for those subs. So I'm gonna put this here.

^ Second disclaimer: I have no proof that this is actually a deep fake of any kind; I'm going to go on record and say I have a suspicion that it is. I do not know whether or not it actually is.

So a video came out today from the public news channel of the UK (the BBC), that Boris Johnson, who is basically kind of like the PM of the UK, has come down with Corona.

If you don't want to watch the whole video, just go about half way and the expressions on his face are very unnatural and off-putting.

So my first thought is, 'why the hell are his facial expressions so abnormal?' Now I'm not saying they're abnormal for Boris in general, I just know that his facial expressions are very unusual looking. So I started doing some research, and I found out that deep fakes are a real thing.

If you don't know what a deep fake is, go on that website and read the description; it's pretty self explanatory. In essence, a deep fake is a fake video or audio using AI. For example, you could use AI to make a fake audio or video of someone you've never met before and it would look very real. Now obviously if you have never met Boris before in your life, then of course this video is going to look real; you have no idea what he looks like in real life.

But I was watching another video of him speaking with these same facial expressions and it just seemed very off-putting. So I thought to myself, "what if this is a deep fake?" Now I know that deep fakes are real... what if someone in power was using AI to generate fake news? And when you think about it, it makes sense. It takes a lot of time for a news organization to record and edit a video, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the length of the video, quality of the equipment, and the people operating the equipment. But a deep fake could just be generated in mere minutes with the right technology. And of course, I know that the news we get today is not completely reliable, but what if they're actually just completely making up the news and using AI to generate videos of important people making announcements or going live on television?

I mean, it's definitely possible, and it could happen. If it's not already the case.
