I'm against AI, for privacy, social justice, and human rights.

I'm against AI. I think it's bad policy and bad practice. It denies people of privacy, social justice, and human rights.

We now live in a country where you can't even buy lunch without sharing your face with the government. We are escaping the problems of the 20th century to enter the problems of the 21st century, where surveillance and espionage are the norm.

Privacy isn't just about sexual activity and personal freedom, it's about avoiding a regime in which people see the need to think twice before speaking. The state is supposed to protect you, not snoop on you. We're being thrust into a culture of "If you own a business, you will use our technology and submit to our surveillance." We're being thrust into a culture of "If you want to participate in society, you will allow us to watch you wherever you go."

Before the advent of AI, people were very much the same in the eyes of the law. Now, people are not equally protected or treated under the law. For example, we now have systems of "risky" and "low-risk" people who are treated differently by the law. This is highly inaccurate and racially discriminatory. AI is a system that seeks to segment different people with different levels of rights.

Some of the worst uses of AI are in the law. AI is used to deny people their rights in court, it's used to commit people without a fair trial or a conviction, and it's used to monitor people and restrict their movement. Our law is based on protecting human rights, AI violates those rights and undermines the rule of law.

This is not the technology we were promised. This is not the technology that would help human civilization. What happened to utopian ideas of technology that would help us carry our burdens? What happened to the idea of robots that would help us with chores? What happened to the idea of a universal basic income?

Can you be a lawyer and not be against AI? I don't think you can. Can you be a citizen and not be against AI? I don't think you can. Can you be a thinking and informed individual and not be against AI? I don't think you can.
