TLDR: was offered to move to an office almost on the other side of the country and chose to take a pay cut instead, now feeling guilty about not using the new opportunity.

I accepted a job in January and started in February. It's a good job but I knew that the company was planning to downsize soon. They told us last week that we've been acquired by a bigger company and it's not going well.

My team is moving to the new company, but five people were let go. We were all supposed to get a huge raise, but it's not going to happen now. Nobody will have to relocate, but they are changing offices and we won't be in the same city anymore.

A lot of people are upset, but I asked if I could leave the company with severance pay. It's not ideal, I don't want to lose this job, but I live in a very small town and love it here. It's hard to find good jobs in this area, so I could stay here and look for a new job while still having a salary, but I am afraid that I am making a huge mistake.

The new company has more opportunities for growth, but they are in a different state and I would have to relocate. I don't want to do it because I have family here and my mom is older and can't really take care of herself alone.

I asked HR again and they said that I was offered a severance package with a month's salary (which is not great), but I can stay here and keep my job while looking for a new one. I would just miss out on the growth opportunities. I don't know what to do. Am I making a huge mistake?
