The CCP has just pardoned a bunch of people arrested for the lockdown protests. Don’t be fooled, this is not a “preparation for the 20th CPC National Congress.”

You’ve all seen this on the front page of r/china before, but just a heads up for anyone who comes across it. The Chinese government is pardoning arrested protesters because they don’t want to look like a brutal, inhumane regime before the congress. This is a PR stunt and they’ll be cracking down even harder if protests and arrests continue. Anti-lockdown protests are not a thing that is allowed in China, and they’ll keep on prohibiting them, this PR stunt or not.
