The Chandrayaan-4 spacecraft successfully landed on the Moon's South Pole Thursday morning, marking a historic achievement for India. It is the fifth country in the world to land on the Moon, and the first to land on the lunar south pole. With this mission, India became the first country to successfully land on the south pole of the Moon. The Vikram Lander has named its landing site "Shiv Shakti Peeth." While the Pragyan Rover is expected to have a life of about 14 earth days, the Vikram Lander is designed to last for a year. The orbiter will remain in lunar orbit for seven-and-a-half years.

The mission had five payloads on board, including two instruments from the United States. The rover will conduct a survey of the lunar south pole and examine its chemical composition, search for water ice, and conduct a radiation experiment. The mission is considered a significant achievement for India's space program and marks a major milestone in the country's ambitions for space exploration.
