Would David Hilbert ever approve of the substance we call Xanax today?

I got prescribed xanax today and immediately started researching the history of the pill. I was quite surprised to learn that the model drug xanax is based off of was discovered by David Hilbert in 1919. <br><br>I’ve since read that his discovery was very different than the modern drug version that we have today. Xanax was also not created until the 1970’s but it was based off of and inspired by Hilbert’s earlier discovery.<br><br>I’m curious about whether or not he would approve of the way his drug has been altered and used/taken advantage of by so many people.
