How do you cope with being a neurodivergent employee during active shooter drills?

So today, I was at work in the middle of a highly stressful meeting when we were interrupted by a voice saying that we were to follow active shooter drill protocols and instructions. I have to admit that I seldom hear this voice, so I stared at my coworkers blankly in confusion. I was instantly filled with anxiety when I saw them all standing up and creating a barricade. I panicked and when the reality of it all sunk in, I started crying and my brain stopped functioning. I didn’t know what to do and just stood there until someone brought me a blanket and told me to crouch into the corner.

I wasn’t in a school so I totally forgot that they can and do happen in the work place as well. I am a highly sensitive and very neurodivergent person (ADHD and autism) so this is something that I can do only so many times before it could become very traumatic. I just want to feel somewhat prepared for the next time this happens so that it doesn’t happen again. So what would you do in this sort of situation?
