If you are an ablebodied white person whining about "being held back" because of Black people, you're not only a fucking asshole, you're also incredibly ungrateful and ignorant.

You're not being held back. You are not being oppressed. You are not being discriminated against because of your skin color.

If anything, it's the opposite- you have been held up your entire life because of your skin color. You have been given opportunities others were not, and you've been gifted what others weren't. You've been ambassadors for your race since we were children because we had to represent ALL of our race, good and bad. If one of us did something bad, we made the entire race look bad, and we were all judged based off of that person's actions. I've seen you be gifted entire jobs, promotions, opportunities, etc over better-qualified minority candidates because your skin color makes you seem like a safer option.

You've never had to worry that your skin color would deny you something based on prejudice. We grew up with that fear and knowledge embedded in our minds. You didn't grow up hearing family stories of your parents/grandparents/other family members being gifted arrest records, beatings, unjustified shootings, and random disrespect from people who were supposed to protect us, simply because of our skin color. We grew up with that knowledge. All of us. It is a FACT that we have internalized, whereas you get to ignore those facts because of your privilege. You get to see yourself in important positions. You get to see yourself in children's books. We have to search out children's books that have characters that look like us.

You have always been given the benefit of the doubt. You have always been treated with dignity and respect by the system that was designed by your own race. You have been gifted a system designed by people who looked like you to benefit people who look like you. You've never been systemically oppressed to the scale that we have.

You've never had to worry about your skin color being a reason you weren't given the same opportunities. In fact, quite the opposite. Because we are making a big deal about racism, you're being held back?

You're not being held back, you're being put on an equal playing field with the rest of us.

Let me tell you this: if the playing field is level and you're this upset... you're not as hard working as you think. Imagine being this mad about equal opportunities when we were held back our entire lives because of our lack of privilege. Imagine being so lazy that you can't compete equally against minority and you have to rely on your privilege to get by.

You don't want to be held back by your own privilege, then WORK HARDER. Put in the effort we have to on a daily basis just to be considered half as good as you. We have to fight twice as hard just to get a modicum of the privilege you're gifted with on a daily basis and you're still whining? You're still mad?

Shut the fuck up. You don't even know what being held back is. You want to know what being held back is? Being held back is being denied opportunities because you're Black. It's being denied jobs because you're Black and the hiring manager doesn't like Black people. Being held back is being denied promotions because you're Black and they don't think that you have the capacity to do a superior job. Being held back is having your level of intelligence questioned because you're Black. Being held back is beingินent having to worry about your children being beaten and brutalized and having their rights violated because of the color of their skin. Being held back is having to fight for your right to live in a country your ancestors built while they get to benefit freely off of your labor and your ancestors' labor without so much as a "thank you". Being held back is having to accept subpar everything because you're Black and "that's just how it is".

You don't know what being held back is. Fuck you.

Edit: 1. I am not saying that ALL white people are lazy. I am saying that those who are complaining are lazy. This isn't about hardworking white people, who would never complain about equal opportunities and have likely experienced being held back themselves, and would likely empathize with Black people being held back by racism.

2. I am not saying that white people are not held back for various reasons. They are. I fully admit this. I have gone out of my way to specify that I am talking about being held back because of racism and prejudice. Please stop trying to pretend like I said that ALL white people have never been held back for ANY reason, because I didn't say that. I said they are not held back because of their skin color. And they're not.
