I'm sick of hearing about "spagghettii squash" and "zucchini noodles" being used as substitutes

You're not fooling anyone with "zoodles" you can tell you're eating zucchini

If you like vegetables, great, but the notion that using a spiralizer somehow makes zucchini or squash taste like pasta is ridiculous. It's like calling a portobello mushroom a steak substitute. Sure, it's a big piece of food that you can grill and put barbecue sauce on, but at the end of the day you're still eating a mushroom, and it's nowhere near the quality of a steak.

If you have nutritional or diabetic reasons for subbing out pasta for something, more power to you. But don't tell me it's just as good or that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference, especially when you're being messy and calling it *actual spaghetti.* Be honest with yourself and your guests. You're not making pasta, you're making a dish with squash. And this is coming from someone who loves squash and rarely eats pasta. But I feel that we as a collective universe need to stop pretending that clearly different things are somehow the same because of a twitter trend.
