Fairly recently I bought myself a subscription to a meal prep meal delivery service, and have been quite satisfied with it. They deliver the shipped meals frozen, and while it was a good budget option, I was having a hard time with the lack of flavor, so I’ve been dinking around with making my own. It’s been going over well, and I thought I’d share my experience.

As an aside, I probably make a bit more than the average young adult, and I’ve always had a hard time budgeting, so to help cope with my ADHD, I went all in on the meal prep. I have since learned how to buy and cook in bulk, and also how to stretch a bit, nowadays I’m able to do 10 dinners, 5 lunches, and 3-4 breakfasts on a budget of about $50 per week, and I will say with a full fridge and pantry, I’m able to clear that up a bit too.

I’m a dad of 4 small kids (3 under 5), so I know how to run a tight ship when it comes to budgeting. What I really want to say is I’m much more successful cooking and freezing in bulk than I have been with fresh food.

I’m not sure how many of y’all are in the same boat, but I wanted to throw this out there because I felt like a meal prep chamber would be a good place to share this.

I’ve also found that I can get twice as much out of a bulk meal, and have actually gotten into having a side that I can split with the kiddos, eventually I’d like to do a second type of meal prep on the side for them.

So yeah, I guess what I’m really saying here is I don’t need to go to the gym, because with this prep and the kids to wrangle, I’m getting enough exercise to maintain my weight.

TL;DR: I’m a lazy dad who isn’t quite a dad bod yet, and if he can do it so can you.
