My husband and I are extreme opposites when it comes to food. Do you meal prep separately for you and your partner, or do you find a compromise?

So this isn't really a meal prep question per se, but I've seen some people talk about meal prepping for their partners and I have a question about it.

For context, I'm a vegetarian, I don't like a lot of salt in my food, and it really bothers me to a large extent if food isn't fresh. My husband is a meat-lover, doesn't care if his food is old (not spoiled, just past the expiration date), and he doesn't like a lot of flavor in his food (but he doesn't mind if salt is the primary flavor). I'm also very particular about textures and smells and I hate a lot of strong flavors. He is the opposite (he doesn't care about texture and loves strong flavors).

I have a feeling that when we move in together, we're going to have a very hard time compromising on food. I thought about the idea of meal prepping separately and then just having a few meals that we both eat together, but I'm not really sure how to approach the logistics of that. Do you meal prep separately for you and your partner, or do you find a compromise? What's your approach to that? For context, my husband and I both work a 50 hour/week job, we travel a lot, and we have 3 pets and a baby on the way, so cooking a separate meal every night for each of us is impractical, and I feel like that would take a toll on our relationship. (It's more the meal prep that I'm stressed about, because I feel like if we can't figure out meal prep, then we won't be able to figure out other things that we disagree on.)

Edit: Wow! Thank you for all of your responses so far :) They've been helpful and a lot of them are insightful. I didn't expect to see so many responses this fast. Thank you for sharing your experiences and tips. I feel a little bit more confident now that we'll be able to make this work. I was afraid to ask about this on Chambers because I've gotten some negative responses to questions like these in the past, so thank you for being kind!
