I'm not sure who needs to hear this, but I have been a chef for 20 years now, and I still resent cooking sometimes. I love cooking, I love the creativity and the fulfillment. I love making food for others and I love that I get to feed my family.

Starting a cooking journey can be intimidating, tiring, and it can feel downright stressful. So much so that you begin to question why you even want to try to cook in the first place, or you might feel this way and question your sanity. You're not crazy.

This is normal, and this is just part of the journey. I am 40 now, and I still don't feel like cooking some times, even when I have to. Even when I want to.

Learning to cook takes time, and it can be exhausting to be constantly worried about what food is healthy, what is available, what is affordable, and how to cook it. It can be overwhelming when you are first starting out, but your skills will improve the more you cook. The more you learn how to cook, the more you will want to cook.

If you are struggling with wanting to cook, don't be too hard on yourself. Cooking is supposed to be enjoyable.

If you don't feel like cooking, make a grilled cheese, or some noodles with butter and parmesan. If you don't feel like cooking, and you can't afford to go out, just order take out.

There's nothing wrong with not wanting to cook every day. Even professional chefs don't want to cook at home sometimes.
