This happened about 7 months ago and I still have the creeps thinking about it. I'm still thankful we're safe. (Sorry for any grammatical errors English is my second language)

It was a Sunday afternoon and a friend of mine and I decided to walk to the grocery store to buy some stuff to make a cake. The weather was nice and it wasn't too hot so we decided to walk and enjoy the sun. We live in what you can call a "neighborhood" with not too many houses so it's pretty safe, the walk was about 20 minutes and there were only a few cars passing but most of the time we were alone.

We were chatting and laughing, having a good time and suddenly we heard a car behind us, we didn't pay much attention to it but suddenly it stopped next to us and a window rolled down.

A man was in the car with 2 women (one who looked about my age 20 and another a little older in her mid 20s-30s) he was saying things like "Hey there, how you girls doing?" And I thought it was weird to assume we were the only girls when my friend is clearly a guy, so my instincts kicked in and we started walking faster, the car was following us slowly and the three of them were trying to make conversation, we didn't answer them. From what I remember they were saying things like:

"Hey you know there's a party down the street? You girls want to come with us?

"We have snacks, drinks, some music and you can hang out with us"

And things like that. Now, I don't usually get scared or creeped out by people but this whole situation felt really off to the point I felt goosebumps, I know you shouldn't generalize but where I live It's not normal to leave your house without some form of mask and these people weren't wearing any, the old woman was actually smoking and getting out of the car at some point.

After a few minutes they were still following us, the road started to be busier and more houses were around so we were actually about 5 minutes from the grocery store. We decided to stop and pretend we were looking for something in our bags and the car passed us slowly, the old woman looked back at us from the side mirror and when she noticed we stopped she asked the man to stop the car and when he did she got out of the car and approached us.

All I remember from her is her perfume, it was very strong and I don't know if she was trying to distract us but I was so focused on that smell and trying not to cough that I wasn't even listening to what she was saying. I'm really thankful for my friend because he covered his mouth and answered the woman he had allergies and was feeling sick all of a sudden so we couldn't stay talking, she insisted on us joining them and my friend said he had to get home because he didn't feel good and I had to accompany him, she kept insisting till the man honked the horn so she got in the car and they left.

We didn't stop walking till we entered the grocery store, we talked about what just happened and both of us were creeped out to the point of shaking, if it wasn't for my friend I don't know what would've happened, I was so distracted by the smell of her perfume I don't think I would've noticed anything weird.

When we finished shopping and got out we had the terrifying thought that they could be waiting for us and my friend said he would walk home with me, he did and I was really thankful.

The whole situation creeps me out, I keep thinking what would've happened if we went with them and it gives me goosebumps, I feel like I can't be alone in the house after dark by myself and if I go out for a walk alone I have to be constantly checking over my shoulder. I don't know what to do to not have these feelings.

Strangers, let's not meet.

Edit: Thank you for all the kind comments, I appreciate them. Also, I didn't think this would get so much attention so quickly, I'm on my phone so it's hard to answer. Yes, I live in Mexico.
