Meal prep should never feel this challenging and exhausting.

I’ve been doing meal prep since I was like 17 years old. I’m 40 now. I’m also a nutritionist. I feel like I’m hoarding food tbh and I’m getting exhausted.

I do a recipe a day on weeknights (sometimes, not even). Most of my time goes into prep than cooking for the meal. I pack the next day’s meal everyday which is like 30 minutes.

I have a variety of pots and pans that are of great quality. I even invested in an instant pot air fryer and stand alone air fryer and blender. I do a lot of prep by hand.

I often cut corners on the prep as more of a lazy prep thing. But sometimes I feel exhausted. I wasn’t always like this. I didn’t used to dread meal prep and it was literally just cooking and I felt so happy and content. I don’t feel that way anymore.

I think I’ve been doing it for so long that my time and energy is spent on all the things around me (kids, kids schedule, making sure the house is clean, exercise, work, cook, pack and clean).

So I started thinking more about meal prep and how I can cut corners.

1- no more air fryer. It’s a pain and takes up a lot space. My oven is so much better.

2- no more slow cooker. I’m not home from work enough to do slow cooker. My instant pot is also a pain.

3- go back to baking veggies. I find that the air fryer and instant pot is a pain and can burn food.

4- go back to eating rice. It’s just so easy to cook and can be done in bulk.

5- buying pre-cut veggies. I’m tired of cutting broccoli.

6- go back to batch cooking more than meal prep.

7- no more sauces. I’m tired of making sauces when they do nothing for me.

8- buying bones and making broth.

I feel like I can make meal prep easy. I also hate the idea of meal kits. I personally think they are very bad for the environment and it’s just not sustainable. I also think batch cooking is better.
