What is really wrong with Duolingo

Nobody ever mentions that the actual main problem is that it intentionally misleads you by teaching you the most obscure variants of words that come to a native speaker's mind. In the case of Russian, it even translates poems AND teaches you words from there. It's so hard to unlearn that stuff and they still keep that in the lessons.

If I'm learning Russian, my aim is to be able to communicate fluently, not to be overly obsessed with Ukrainian names to the point of really having them as the top suggestions for a word's translation.

Or am I crazy?
