I'd say to myself, "stop waiting to be happy." I was always waiting for some imagined time in the future when I'd have a big house, a decent income, the perfect partner, and all the things I thought I needed to be happy. Now I realize that life is a journey, not a destination. I do not need to rush through it, stress about it, or worry about what's missing from it.

It was a terrible mistake to have wasted my time previously trying to get all the things I thought I needed to live a happy life. I have a much better understanding of what truly contributes to my happiness. I've chosen to slow down and live my life without all the burdens of stuff.
