My local library is playing into the anti AI sentiments… and it is pissed me off

I used to love our public library. The people there were nice, and books were cheap enough, but the system was all about what they thought people needed, not what was wanted.

In the past few months, I have been hearing the librarians go anti AI, and pro human. They just got their ass kicked by two kids using AI for their book drive for when local residents have to go for their passport for the summer.

They were all high and mighty about how they were going to have a book fair to raise money, but that got overshadowed by two middle school kids who used AI to make money… and they were not happy about it.

The winner of the book fair was a book by a anti AI author, and a kid who used chatGPT for their essay got disqualified.

They are being bullied repeatedly on social media, and it is hurting their image… they just got their ass kicked two days ago by a kid on Twitter.

I am getting pissed by this because I am an ML professional, and I love helping the community. But with them trying to stick with traditional solutions, I am not going to be able to help them side by side anymore.

It is over, the anti AI sentiments will not win, and the pro human sentiments will not win. But people like me will not side with them, and they will lose a lot of the support they had before.

I used to love the library, but I will never go there again, and will not be giving them any money.
