What's the deal with capeshit and capeshit-esque media getting the most notable catgirl portrayals?

I'm not saying this is always true, but I think it's true enough to ask about it. Let me list a few examples:

* She-Hulk, a Disney/MCU show, got a notable catgirl episode in S1 E3 with the Madisynn character
* Velma, a Scooby-Doo spin-off show on HBO Max, had a whole episode dedicated to catgirls in S2 E1
* Peridot from Steven Universe has cat ears and a tail, is a notable character with multiple musical numbers, and the show has been widely acclaimed, winning an Emmy award
* And of course there's the upcoming Ms Marvel: The Marvels movie, which will feature catgirl Groon

I have to ask, what's the deal with catgirls getting a lot of recognizable portrayals in big studio capeshit? Like, why catgirls and not wolf-people or lizard-people or whatever?
