The concepts of Frugality and Luxury are so backwards

We consider something a **Luxury** if it is expensive (and thus exclusive) and prestigious in some way.

Imagine owning a Lamborghini or a Rolex. Your heart is proud and beating with national pride. You feel you've succeeded in life. You feel you've earned it because you are wealthy. You feel what you own is of high quality. You feel you've put yourself above others because you've paid for that right. It's now yours. You earned your identity. You earned your pride. It's yours because you are better than others. You are wealthy. You've done it. You've succeeded in life, and that's your proof.

On the other hand we consider something a **Frugality** if it is cheap (and thus inclusive) and low-class in some way.

Imagine wearing second-hand clothing from the dump. Your heart is ashamed and heavy. You feel like you've failed in life. You feel you haven't earned the right to wear nice clothes. You feel your body is of poor quality. You are poor. You feel you've put yourself below others. You feel pathetic. You are a low-class nobody. You are a failure. Your body is proof of it.

However if we actually look at what Luxury and Frugality are, we will see that in reality the former is not something to be proud of, and the latter is the wise and elite choice.

Everything about the concept of Luxury is flawed. Firstly the carbon footprint is huge and destructive, secondly it is a waste of resources and wealth and thirdly it is wildly expensive. These factors contribute to the overall decline in our quality of life by polluting and destroying our planet, raising costs and lowering our collective wealth and being a hassle to handle.

On the other hand, everything about the concept of Frugality is flawless. Firstly the carbon footprint is tiny and sustainable, secondly it is an efficient use of resources and wealth and thirdly it is dirt cheap. These factors contribute to the overall rise in our quality of life by sustained our planet, lowering costs and raising our collective wealth and being a breeze to handle.

But despite the fact that Frugality makes perfect sense, and Luxury is deeply flawed, we consider it the other way around because our capitalist society tells us that wealth is the ultimate value. Thus we judge people's worth by how wealthy they are. However this is a massive mistake. The ultimate human value is Quality of Life. Not wealth.

Humans are not to blame for this. These are just the rules and norms of our society. The rules and norms of society are decided by the ruling class, the wealthy, who benefit from these rules and norms and thus maintain them.
