Hi.

I just wanted to drop by here and give you a usefull hint.

* **Please don't comment on your own posts! ** Except if you answer questions from one of the respondents. But to that later.

The reason behind this is: The comment you have made on your own posts will be read by the first person that gives you a critique on your post. They will be put off and possible attack you. The best thing to do is to wait and not to answer to anything until you have got a critique on your work (or atleast wait until the next day).

* **If you start a convo with the first comment you will have no chance to get critique.** And if someone is in a bad mood, they will use ad-hominems when they answer you. This can/will make you feel bad.

**What to do instead?**

* Write your post according to the rules and wait. If you have questions or need clarification on a comment, you may comment on a critique. Thank the critic and give an answer to the question you had.
* Don't feel offended if you don't get any critique from the beginning. Most of the critiques here on r/writing_critiques are not given by professional editors, agents or writers. So you have to wait in order to get a critique.
* Don't take any critique personally. This is important: **Critique is not to offend you personally**. Most of the people that give critiques are not even beginners. A lot of the people here use this sub to learn and to get work done in order to apply for writing jobs or even to get published here. That's why you have to read critiques carefully. Take wha you can use to improve yourself and your craft and give thanks. You don't want to scare off one of the few people who gives critiques.
* And please: **Don't give thanks before you have read the critique.** You will loose the interest of the person who gives you a critique. Take the time to read the critique you have been given and give thanks afterwards.
* Don't be cocky! You are a beginner. You will get critiques you won't like. But you can be sure, that the person who gives you a critique spends his time to help you. And he does it for free.

That's all I have to say on this topic. I know this may sound like a lot to you but it's not. You'll see as the days will pass.

And remember: This sub is not made to make you feel good. It is to improve the way you write.
