I met my ex-husband my senior year of college. He was working for a designer as an architect, I was in graphic design. He was 27, I was 22. We met at a coffee shop near my work, while I was at a table working on an ad for a local brewery. He was immediately drawn to me, and I'll admit, I was extremely good looking. My twin sister and I have always been agreed to be the prettiest in the room, no matter where we were.

We dated for three years before he proposed, and I happily accepted, and we married the next spring. Everything was perfect for a few years, but when he got a promotion to a high-end architecture firm in Manhattan, everything changed. He became prone to fits of anger, and was never home. But, our life was so much better, and I was young and happy to be a stay-at-home wife.

We bought a penthouse apartment overlooking Central Park, and I had everything I needed. I was 19 when we met, and now 28. I gave up my career as a graphic designer to be a happy home-maker. I was so happy for my husband, and his career, and I still loved him, even though he began to be emotionally abusive.

One day, I was at the grocery store, picking out some apples for a pie I wanted to make. I turned to see a woman who looked exactly like me. I mean exactly. I was so taken aback, I actually bumped into the display of apples, knocking over several baskets, sending apples tumbling to the ground. I had to be helped up by a kind elderly woman who then immediately left.

The woman who looked exactly like me, was still there, and she was very pretty, except for that she didn't look as good as me. I remember feeling very narcissistic.

I asked her if she was okay, and she said she was a little startled. I asked if she was my doppelganger, or twin-flame, or something. I read somewhere that if you meet your twin-flame, you'll just know. She was wearing a red sweater, and I was wearing a blue one. Otherwise, we looked identical.

She said no, and I asked her what her name was. She said it was Tiffany. I told her mine was Tiffiny. We talked for a few minutes before I asked her if she would like to go for a walk in the park. I was just so excited to have met my twin flame.

Tiff and I, walked to Central Park, and as luck would have it, we ran into my then-husband, and his partner. His partner was a woman named Rebecca, and she was very beautiful. She was tall and slender, with long curly red hair. She was probably about four years older than me. They were both a little surprised to see me out with a woman who looked exactly like me.

Tiff was very sweet, and my husband's partner, was immediately smitten with her. She asked if she could take Tiff out for a drink, and Tiff agreed. That was the last I had seen of Tiff. I only heard from my husband's partner a few times after that, until my husband left me for her.

I was so distraught, I didn't know what to do. I lost the apartment, the car, and everything. I even had to change my name because my ex-husband was a fucking asshole. I moved to a new city, and started a new life, and after eight years, I found out that my ex-husband had married Tiff.

This was three years ago. I wonder if Tiff will ever find out what really happened. I hope so.

Tiff, if you're reading this, just be happy, because you're pretty enough to be me. And to my sister, if you're reading this, I always loved you more than you loved yourself!

Edit:

I should mention, Tiff looked identical to me. She was a little taller, a little skinner, and a little younger. I remember distinctly, because she told me she was 24 when we met.
