My advice to a friend who always gets B's

So one of my closest friends (Haven) always seemed to get B's on the few assignments they did, and I was like, "Damn, dude, I can't get above C's." And they were like "Well, this is my secret: I always pay attention and take good notes in class. Plus, I always look at the rubrics and make sure I satisfy their requirements. I don't let myself get too stressed, because I know that I can always pull out a B and I won't worry about things. I want to succeed in life, but what I want more is to be at peace."

And I was like, "Wow, that's so... refreshing." You know? Sometimes I feel like it's really easy to get caught up in being perfect, because we all want to succeed. And that's great. But I think it's also important to realize that sometimes (not always, but sometimes) it's okay to just be satisfied with things. It's okay to only get B's. And it's okay to not try your hardest all the time.

I know this sounds really obvious, but it's something that I've been trying to focus on. Putting in enough effort to be satisfied with myself in the moment, instead of constantly wondering how I can get better and never being satisfied. What do you think? Has anyone else ever experienced this? Or is this just me?

Edit: This is basically a post I put on r/AskAStudent (my sub). I just thought it would be cool to see if this would be a good post here.
