**The Guy in My Dorm Elevator Was Going to Abduct Me and He Didn’t Know I Knew**

I feel like an idiot for posting this, but it’s been a few years and it’s not something I really like to talk about.

When I was in college, I was walking home from the library late one night (I got there around 7 and was there til they closed at 1am). I lived in a 15 story dorm, and being as my room was on the 15th floor, I used the elevator every day. My dorm was not in the greatest part of town and we had to swipe our card to get into the building, get into the main area (where the elevator was) after hours and then swipe again outside certain areas (like the elevator in the E wing). I digress.

I walked in the front door and swiped my card, then made my way to the elevator on my side of the building (there were two sets on either side of the building in the middle). I was listening to music and had earbuds in, the door shut and I didn’t notice the elevator hadn’t started to move. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around to see this guy standing behind me. I was completely shocked, I didn’t see him in the elevator with me. I turned and looked out the window and it had the bottom floor on it so I figured he had quickly jumped in the door before it shut. he asked me what floor I was going to and when I told him he said “Oh, me too. *my dorm had an odd system where we had 2 elevators but one went to the even floors and one went to the odd*” the only way I was going to work was if I was going to he 14th floor. But I was like “Oh, okay, cool.” and he started talking to me. The music on my phone was pretty muffled and the earbuds were in the bottom of my hoody and he didn’t notice them. He was telling me some story about his friends and I kind of smiled and nodded along not really paying attention at all. Just then I saw him glance at my phone and as I glanced in the mirror hanging up I could see him mouth “Oh shit” and then move closer to he when the elevator stopped.

I get chills thinking about this. When the elevator stopped he was about an inch away from me, he grabbed my waist and lifted me up so my feet weren’t touching the ground. As he did he pushed me into the wall and the wind was knocked out of me. The heat in my building was not good and it was freezing so I was wearing a turtleneck sweater, a tank top and a sweatshirt. I didn’t feel him grab my tank top so I assume he grabbed my sweatshirt and turtleneck. He started pulling my shirt up and I started hitting him and screaming and he covered my mouth. When he did I bit down on his palm and he yelped in pain so I saw my chance to get out. I pushed him so hard he fell to the ground and I started running to the stairs, I didn’t think he would be as far behind me as he was so I was pretty surprised when I was about 5 flights up and he grabbed my ankles and I fell and scraped up my knees. I kicked so hard and he really didn’t let go so at this point my legs were throbbing in pain and I could actually feel tears in my eyes. I grabbed his arms and started crawling up the stairs, I reached the top and kicked him one more time and he loosened his grip enough for me to pull my legs free. I ran down the hall opened the door to my room and slammed and locked the door. The whole time he was heaving and laughing.

As I locked the door I turned to look at him and he was standing there with the most deranged look on his face. He had the bottom half of his face covered but the top half of his face was scrunched up and his eyes looked empty. he looked at me and said “you’ll pay for this” and started walking away. He walked to the stairwell and the door shut behind him. I stood there for what felt like forever not moving at all. Then I grabbed my phone and called the cops. The cops came to my dorm and I explained the situation and they took me to the station to write up a report and do some paperwork. I looked in the security cameras on the first floor he walked passed but didn’t swipe a card so he was with someone. I didn’t get much sleep that night and the cops called me a few days later to let me know they hadn’t found anyone matching my description. From that day on I got in the habit of always swiping my card then waiting a few seconds before opening the door so if someone was behind me I could see them.

**EDIT** I'd just like to say that I'm truly sorry if this disappointed anyone. I understand that this sub is called Let's Not Meet and this was more of a "just met" story. I didn't intent for it to seem like that however and I hope you can forgive me/understand my perspective.
