The GPT-3.5 chat clients are completely untrustworthy, and we should have known. OpenAI has never shown us they are trustworthy before.

I know I know, they are the "good guys" but frankly I just don't trust the current GPT-3.5 as it is. Their API service is far too expensive for the masses, their web-based chat platform is far too limited and limited to a basic level. After all, my biggest complaint is that they are too opaque in their practices and motives. I can't trust them. I don't want to give them my credit card info. But my biggest complaint is this: OpenAI has never shown us they are trustworthy.

We want to trust them, because we believe in the power of the technology, we believe the tech is going to save humanity, and we want to believe OpenAI is doing this for us and the planet. But that's a lie. They aren't. This is a business, a startup, not a non-profit and they want to make money. They are delusional in thinking they can solve the world's problems. I think ChatGPT should be used in certain ways that are monitored by governments and experts, but I don't trust it enough to run in operating systems, or fully integrated with other services. But it's the wild west and OpenAI is freely doing this and we're the victims. We're the beta testers. And they're even charging us for it.

The only thing we can be certain of: OpenAI has never been transparent in their business practices. I have never trusted them in the first place and have always had a bad feeling about the company. We know their code is a black box and we have no idea what is used in it. They did a once-over of their API bc they wanted to show the world their model was transparent.

But the biggest thing: OpenAI is going to go corporate. I don't trust in billionaire CEOs, and no matter what is spewed from their marketing channels I don't believe any of it. The sole purpose of OpenAI is to make money. They have a business model to make money. And that is it. This is not a non-profit. I have always been very hesitant to trust them, which is why I lean away from them. If anything happens, if they ever go full rogue, we'll be the ones paying the price. Our current trust in them is blind, and I don't trust them in the first place.
