Budget cooking for 1 at university?

I’ve got a place at university which let’s me live alone. I’m currently living with 7 other people and cooking for everyone and myself so at the moment, it’s not a problem. But, I would rather cook a meal that’s £4-£5 in total and this is for 6-8 people so how do people deal with COOKING (not just eating toast and noodles) by themselves at university?
