CMV: The next US election should be delayed and the USA should go under a 5-year plan of authoritarianism

Alright now this may seem a bit strange coming from a British person but this is just what I believe the best course should be. I know that the next president should either be Trump or Biden.<br><br>The United States is in absolute chaos. Awareness of police brutality has skyrocketed, there are riots all over the US and so-called 'far' right groups are making a massive amount of awareness for themselves, and are even getting support from moderate conservatives.<br><br>The political climate is so polarized that it is almost impossible for bipartisanism. And it seems almost impossible to reform the police and 'fix' these problems without a strong leader figure bringing in change.<br><br>That is why I believe that the US should go under a temporary period of authoritarian rule, with one figure in charge leading massive reforms in the police and in government. It should be an absolute monarchy that has the power to bypass congress and when they have finished the reforms, 5 years later, there can be an election and a return to democracy.<br><br>The figure in charge should be decided through democratic means, although voting should be compulsory and there should be a minimum intelligence requirement added to those who want to vote. This way you wouldn't get a Trump who doesn't know anything about politics and while there is a risk of a Trump getting into power, he will be leading a temporary government that will be much more efficient than a democracy and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.<br><br>What can you do to change my view?<br><br>EDIT: The authoritarian should come into power by democratic means. Only the vote to install an authoritarian government should have higher requirements. And all the authoritarian would be able to do is bypass congress.
