Why would anyone become a teacher and why do we put up with it?

I don’t get it. I’m a college student and I see teachers out on the picket lines sometimes and how much shit they deal with. A friend of mine who’s a high school English teacher told me he doesn’t watch tv or do anything after school hours or on the weekends because the job is so consuming.<br><br>Teachers get so little respect and are paid so poorly, especially for the amount of schooling they need. Why would someone even pursue the career?
