AITA for not paying rent after the landlord evicted my boyfriend?

Intro: I have been renting a place for 2 months now. I found it on Craigslist and the landlord seemed really nice. It was corporate housing (apartment complex) so we had a property manager to handle issues since the landlord does not live there. The landlord lives in a different state.

My boyfriend was sleeping over every night and the landlord never had an issue with it. When I signed the lease, it said no overnight guests for longer than 2 weeks if they're not on the lease. I was new to renting and didn't know what to do. I just wanted to enjoy my new place. I was also afraid that if I asked permission, he would say no and I don't know how I would get around that. I took a chance and everything was fine.

2 weeks ago, I got a text from the property manager saying that they received a noise complaint from a neighbor and they were coming over to check it out. They did not show up and the property manager said they came to the wrong place. The next day, I received an email from the landlord saying that they received a report that someone was living there with me. They were like "is this true?". I responded with a yes, it's my boyfriend and gave a brief background on my situation. That same night, I received an email that I had 5 days to get my boyfriend out or I would be kicked out of the apartment. That night, I told my boyfriend what was going on and he moved some of his stuff to his parents house. By the time the 5 days were up, he had most of his stuff moved out and his name removed from the lease. We still spend nights together and nothing has happened so far.

I just received my next rent bill and I'm being charged an extra $100 for my "roommate". It is illegally to charge for overnight guests so I decided to pay rent without the additional fee. The landlord flipped out saying that I was trying to scam her and that she will evict me if I don't pay the full rent amount. I told her that I won't pay it and it's illegal to charge me extra for overnight guests. She stood firm that I will be evicted if I don't pay the full amount. I just paid the full amount and I'm extremely pissed off right now. Am I in the right for taking her to small claims court over this?

Edit: Thank you everyone for your responses. Some of you mentioned how difficult it is to get approval for a guest staying longer than 2 weeks. Some of you have to pay more, get a background check, etc. This is definitely illegal in my state and I will be looking into this further. I will also be looking into finding a new place to live. Thank you all for your input!

Edit 2: I contacted my state's tenant association and they said that it is illegal to charge extra fees for overnight guests. They said the landlord has to return all of my rent payments because of this. They also said my landlord has broken multiple laws including not giving a 30 day notice, fining me for overnight guests, etc. I'm going to start looking for a new place to live since my landlord broke the law.
