The documentary "Hearts of Darkness" is a better documentary about Kanye's breakdown/chris cornell's death than it is about the making of “Apocalypse Now”

For those that haven't seen it, it's a documentary about how Francis Ford Coppola went a bit insane filming a movie in a country where the government is literally collapsing. He had a lot of troubles hiring actors (one of the lead actors had a stroke and they had to replace him with someone else), an actor literally went insane, they had trouble getting permits because the government was collapsing and they actually had to stop producing the movie because the lead actor was an alcoholic.

I think it's crazy how much “Apocalypse Now” is similar to “Donda” and “graduation” shot in the Philippines. The documentary just lines up weirdly with kanye's breakdown, the nightmares, the tantrums, the crazy shit he said and how it all worked out in the end.

The documentary is also very similar to another crazy breakdown, this time of the lead singer of soundgarden, Chris Cornell. He went through a lot of stuff in the Philippines too and ended up hanging himself in Detroit.

Their music was definitely good but I think this is a very good case of “separation of the art and the artist” and I think we should be critical of the mental state of the people we give our money too, especially if the stuff you listen to is from the 90s

Edit: I changed the title because I wasn't clear in the original post that it makes a better documentary of those two topics than it is for the making of "Apocalypse now".
