ELI5: Why do dogs always seem to find the one spot in the yard you don’t mow in order to shit?

I always keep the grass short on my lawn since it’s sort of a hill, but I never mow it around my pine tree. Now, I have two dogs and somehow they always seem to find the one spot on the yard I don’t mow in order to shit. I’m not a superstitious person, but my dogs poop always seem to land in the long grass, and I’m wondering why this is.
