Never pay for medical treatment before getting your bill

I looked at my emergency room bill one day and thought, "This seems a bit underpriced for a hospital stay.". I decided to contact the billing department to thank them for a just bill and the kind treatment I'd received by the staff. I told them the bill they sent was very reasonable and I was glad they didn't have the attitude of, "Gotcha", like some hospitals have. I asked if it was a mistake, they said, "Did you get another bill for the physicians fee?". I said, "No.". They said, "Well, that's $14,000", I said, "Well, that's a mistake.".
