My son's camera monitor alerted in the middle of the night. I checked it and saw my wife and son sitting on the bed. They weren't my wife and son.

I'm a nurse and I currently work night shifts. It's a total drag, but I'm hoping to get onto days soon.

My wife works a normal Monday through Friday 9-5. She gets up at 7:00 AM, grabs a cup of coffee, and heads to her bedroom to get dressed for work. Before heading to her bedroom, she always wakes me up. We chat for a bit and I always make sure she gets off before heading back to sleep. It's a nice way for us to share some intimacy before I have to head out the door.

It was 2:30 AM when I woke up to the monitor's notification. It was odd because usually the device only alerts when it picks up sound or movement. My son is generally a good sleeper and doesn't cry often.

I looked at the screen and saw my son sleeping with his back to the camera. I was ready to close the monitor and head back to sleep when I saw my wife on the screen. She was sitting on the bed next to my son and just staring at him. There was something creepy about her. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but the way she was staring at him gave me the heebie jeebies. I closed the monitor and thought that it was weird, but my wife was probably just checking in on him.

The next morning I behold my beautiful wife. There's absolutely nothing wrong with her. She's as wonderful as ever. I think about the night before and decide to bring it up.

"You went to check on Billy last night?"

"Oh yeah, I always check on him before headed to bed."

I hesitated for a sec before deciding to bring up what I experienced.

"You were on the camera monitor for a bit. You were just staring at Billy. It kind of crept me out."

"Huh?"

"You looked weird. You were just staring at him. It creeped me out."

She looked at me weird and said:

"No, I didn't check on him. I didn't get out of bed last night."

I thought that was weird, but maybe she was just half asleep and didn't remember.

I forgot about it and headed to work. The next night when I got home my wife had already went to sleep. I walked into my son's room and kissed him on the forehead. I noticed he was sleeping with his back to the camera, just like the night before. I think to myself "weird". I walked back to my bedroom and my wife was gone. I looked back at the camera monitor in my room and saw her sitting on the bed staring at my son. I jumped out of bed and ran to my son's room. When I got there, my son was sleeping and my wife wasn't there. I literally tore the room apart. I even ripped up the flooring. My wife was not there.

The next morning I asked her about it again. She just denied ever being in my son's room. I was going crazy. I thought my house was haunted. Was it ghosts? No, it couldn't be. I don't believe in that bullshit.

That night when I got home, my wife was gone. I looked at the camera monitor and saw my son and "her" in the room. This time "she" was holding my son.

I didn't run through the house looking for her this time. I knew she wasn't there. I just stuck my middle finger up at the monitor and went to sleep.

The next night I got home from work and looked at the camera. "She" and my son were sitting on the bed. The creepy thing was that "she" was looking at the camera. She mouthed "Hi" to me.

I didn't care. I still flipped "her" the bird.

I'm not my family's mom, dad, or caregiver. I have to work. If I have to look at some creepy bitch while my son is "safe" under her care, then so be it.

It's been 9 months since I've first noticed "her" on the camera monitor. Sometimes "she" looks like my wife. Sometimes it's just a woman. Sometimes its a man. Sometimes its something else entirely. Now, "he" or "she" or "it" just looks like a woman. I don't care anymore. Every night I still look at the monitor and see my son safe and "her" sitting next to him.

I still give "her" the finger.
