I need to get rid of a massive collection of my Dad’s photography equipment. How?

My Dad died in 2020, and after tearing apart his condo, art studio, and separate storage unit, I’m left with a few questions I’m hoping y’all can help me figure out.

Btw, I have zero interest in keeping the equipment. I want out of it. My Dad didn’t teach me much about photography before he died, so I’m not attached to any particular piece of equipment. I’ve lost count of how many times he “accidentally” broke or borrowed my photography gear.

**What’s in the collection:**

He was a 35 year professional commercial photographer and photography professor (now deceased). He started out in film, but switched to digital in the early 2000s. The collection is quite extensive and includes:

-Every interchangeable lens made by Canon EOS from the 80s through 2018

-Canon bodies: 3 film bodies, 8 digital bodies, including multiple 5D mark III/IVs, 1D mark IIII, 1d X mark II

-2 full sets of B&W and color filters

-Unopened boxes of slow, medium, and fast film from Canon, Kodak, Fuji, Polaroid

-Projector and screen

-Full dark room setup: photo paper, chemicals, glass tubes, funnels, tongs, any other tool you could think of

-A bunch of small, vintage film cameras

-Slide scanner

-3 softbox lightning kits

-Tons of random equipment I have no clue what are

-A medium format camera (what is this and what should I do with it??)

-He had extensive collections of camera bags and cases, but that’s about it for what I have left. He also had thousands of dollars worth of paper and print services the university he taught at would pay for. But they expired after he died.

**My objective:**

I don’t want to keep this collection. I want it to be gone. Plain and simple. I don’t have time to sell anything, and I’m not doing any work to figure out what each piece of equipment is worth. I am looking for “lazy” solutions because I’ve been working on this for years and am burnt out.

**What I’ve done so far:**

-I gave thousands of dollars worth of equipment to his TA. I’m super grateful to her, but she's now done receiving donations. I was able to get rid of a small portion of the collection, mainly the prints and photo paper.

-I gave a smaller amount of equipment (a camera body, lens, and 2 flashes) to a good friend who also takes photos. He said he’s done receiving donations and is not interested in buying anything.

-I sold the printers and the fridge for our studio to a local university (I had to buy and install a new fridge for us because my Dad had no idea about boundaries).

-I donated some film and photo paper to a few local art schools. The high schools were excited to receive the donations, but the local colleges seemed uninterested.

-I posted on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. I’m not trying to sell anything. I’m asking for people to come pick it up for free and am specific that I’m not willing to negotiate prices and I won’t look at each item to determine prices. Nothing, surprisingly, has come of this. I had no idea it was so hard to give away camera equipment!

-I offered it to local photography clubs. Some were interested, others weren’t.

-I asked a few local photography stores if they’d buy it or send anyone looking to buy, and no one seemed to be interested. I’m sure it’s already too cheap for them to make a profit off of it.

-I’ve posted on NextDoor, and to no avail.

**What I’m looking for:**

I’m hoping you guys can help me come up with more “lazy” solutions to get rid of the collection. I’m not in the business of selling cameras. I don’t want to waste any more time on this. I’m looking for a way out.

-Are there any Facebook groups you’d recommend posting in?

-Proceeding with the Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace post, how can I tweak it to be more effective? I can’t seem to get anyone interested in anything. Surprising, right?

-Is there a way to donate without going through the tax deduction process? I did not enjoy that at all.

-Is there a charity I can donate to that does not require filling out their forms?

-Is there a second-hand store I can drop it off at that does not require a meetup or me to get the stuff appraised first?

-Is there a way I can drop it off at a good will or Salvation Army or would they just toss it?

-Is there an app I can put up pictures of everything in one post and people can choose what they want instead of having to make separate posts for everything?

What do you guys think? Any advice is appreciated!
