My Private School Experience

About to graduate from a pretty middle-upper class private school. I'm graduating 3rd/106 on a 4.0 scale, with 4 more years of high school on the way. I'm here to provide some insight on what it's like at a private school. I've had the luxury of being in this social circle for about 8 years now, and I've learned quite a bit: <br><br>First of all, money can't buy taste. I've never been to a richer school than this one. And yet, I get to witness some of the ugliest, most hideous people I've ever seen. There are plenty of cool looking guys, but nobody really stands out as exceptionally good looking. I'd say the ratio of good to bad looking people in my grade is about 5:95. The women are even worse off. There's about 5-10 girls in the grade that are above average. But honestly, that's even a bit of an understatement. I was in a relationship for 4 years with a very pretty girl in my grade. She was tall, fit, and had a nice face. I can't think of more than 2 men in my grade that were objectively attractive. <br><br>Despite your observation, it does not matter how well you can dress up to be attractive. I've seen guys with a really attractive face ruin it with a hairline that makes you question how they're even doing well academically. It's a stress-free existence except for a couple of hours a week of group work, but that's not enough to make you get a haircut. There are obviously attractive people from the 10% of the student body that is attractive, but it doesn't make up for everything else. <br><br>I've had a decent amount of hookups with people in the grade, and I can say that you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone that you'd want to have sex with. 95% of girls in my grade have a face that would make you gag. And 90%+ of the grade probably have some sort of body dysmorphia. The only way you'd be able to get sex is if you're attractive, have some amount of "status," and you can manage to get to know people. There's plenty of couples in the grade, but it's mostly because of the convenience. As I said before, they're not ugly but they're not above average. They're mostly mediocre looking. The good looking people in the grade have all had sex, but that's not a lot of people. <br><br>Money is not everything. I've seen plenty of rich kids with zero motivation, who end up barely passing at our school. There's kids who barely scrape by and they have essentially no life outside of school because their parents dump everything on them. There's also kids who have the smart upbringing and are given enough freedom to manage themselves while still having some responsibility. The funny thing is that I've noticed the least motivated kids are always the prettiest. Maybe it's because they don't need to develop skills because they're already being pampered anyways. Some of my most mediocre friends from my grade are all drop dead gorgeous. <br><br>Academics is not everything. I'm one of the top 2 students in my grade in terms of GPA. This makes it very easy for me to get into a good college. But I'm hanging out with some people in my grade at lunch and not a single one of them has any chance at getting in anywhere good. So they'll probably drop out of community college and live off their parents for the rest of their lives. <br><br>It's funny because a lot of the funny looking kids in my grade don't actually go to the school. They either got a scholarship or their families are involved with the school. That's probably why I've always thought that rich kids in general are more mediocre-looking. But overall, money is a very big thing. I've seen people with 300k houses living 2 miles away from multi-million dollar mansions. It's a very different world. <br><br>Overall, the biggest reason why I think rich kids are more boring and bland is because of the lack of stress and motivations they have. Maybe it's because they've been born into a privileged life, but it's rare to find someone who's actually trying to make something out of themselves. Most people are pacifists who just want to live a comfortable life. It's pretty boring to get to know them. <br><br>That's all I have to say.
