My girlfriend is mad that I wouldn't be with her in her time of need

Throwaway account. Long story short, I (m35) and my girlfriend (f27) have been together for a couple of years now. She has 3 kids, all girls, and I've grown to love them very much. In fact, they call me their dad.<br><br>A little background on why I'm here, one night my girlfriend went to work (she works nights at a hospital) leaving me to care for the kids. I got a call from her around 1am saying she was in the er. Apparently a guy tried to grab her ass at work and she smashed him with a chair and he fell down the stairs and hit his head. She said she was scared because the guy was convulsing in front of her and he was bleeding from his nose and mouth. Security grabbed her and dragged her out. She wanted me to come comfort her and I told her she should find a ride home.<br><br>She went dead silent and said I hung up on her. I didn't. She said I need to come help her, I refused again. I told her the kids were scared and I couldn't leave them alone, plus I don't have insurance on my car so I couldn't drive to where she was. And she told me I'm putting the kids before her which I am because I won't leave them alone. So I still told her I couldn't come help her. About an hour later her friend picked her up and took her home.<br><br>She was upset with me and I told her she should've thought about that before she smashed the guy with a chair. Her friend kept telling her to stop putting her hands on people and that it's getting old.<br><br>So now she's pissed at me because I won't cater to her when shit hits the fan. I guess I'm the bad guy here.
