I get scoffed at for carrying a .40 S&W Glock everywhere. It is not the most popular caliber and I have been told a Glock is not a real gun. I don’t care, because when you are in combat it doesn’t matter if your gun is big and powerful, it just has to go bang every time you pull the trigger. I was taught that when I was in the Marine Corps and that has stuck with me my whole life.

I had the opportunity to test the Glock 20SF for myself and put it up against my 1911 and my Sig P226 which are both 9mm firearms.

The Glock 20 has a few perks that I like such as, the Glock 20SF Holds 10 rounds, it is chambered with a 10mm cartridge that is 15.50mm which is the same as .40 S&W, although it is slightly longer, it is stronger and obviously bigger. In some states you are only allowed 10 rounds, so even though that is a crappy law, this pistol falls within that law. It also has an SF model which stands for short frame, it is made for smaller hands.

The first thing I did, before I took the Glock 20 out to the range was take it apart and clean it. I wanted to make sure that it was really clean and well kept before testing it. It was super easy to clean and put back together. The Glock 20 is a great gun if you are new to firearms, it is just so simple.

The first time I fired the Glock 20 was a pleasant surprise. I started with my 1911, and on the first shot I hit the target in a 6 inch radius. I expected it to be tight because it is a single action and that is not the most accurate gun. It is a great gun but it is not made for accuracy. I then shot my Sig P226 and I was able to shoot into a 3 inch radius. Next was the Glock 20, I shot a 2 inch radius with the Glock.

I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy, I didn’t expect it to be so accurate. I am a decent shooter, but I am by no means a great shooter. I shoot 2-3 times a week, but I know a lot of people that shoot almost every day. I guess that is what makes this gun so great, it is a great all around gun. Great for beginners and great for seasoned shooters.

After I finished shooting at the range, I was happy to say that the Glock 20 out performed both of my other guns. Which is crazy because the 1911 is a single action and the Sig P226 is just a great gun but it did not perform as well as the Glock 20.

I carry a Glock 20 because it is dependable and I trust it with my life, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger.

Edit: thank you to everyone that has reached out with kind words, it seems like this post has reached a lot of people. I am humbled and I appreciate the support.
