This sub is getting too shallow.

I regularly lurk this sub and notice that the vast majority of the discussion is extremely surface-level. The average discussion is:

Person A posts about topic A.

Persons B-Z comment "I agree/disagree". You rarely see anyone actually engage with others comments, and even more rarely do you see anyone actually try to delve deeper into the subject.

The front page is dominated by low-effort skeletal posts that were clearly designed to be clickbait. You see the same topics posted over and over and over again with no actual depth or interesting content.

I believe that what has happened is that lots of people are joining the sub and don't know how to actually engage with others in a philosophical manner, which makes for uninteresting conversation and a sub that is less about philosophy and more about personal anecdotes and meaningless virtue signaling.

I'm not saying there's no good content on this sub, but there is definitely a lot of crap that gets to the front page.

This is further exacerbated by people like EIP who just spout the same nonsense over and over again without actually discussing philosophy.

We need less low-effort virtue signaling and anecdotal experience posting, and more actual discussion about the meaning of life.

Discuss.
