The Anime Awards are a disaster and raise many questions

I am seriously speechless. The Anime Awards, also called the "Crunchyroll Anime Awards" are for me the worst thing that happened to the anime community in recent years. Personally, I think they're a joke, especially in recent years.

The biggest problem is the lack of variety in the nominees and winners. In almost every category there are at least two Attack on Titan nominations. And in the end, Attack on Titan also wins many awards. My guess is that the voting is heavily manipulated, and I'll explain why below.

Every year, the same studios win, and more precisely the same shows. MAPPA, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer are just a few examples. While I don't think any of these shows are bad, it's always the same ones that win, while other great shows that might not be as well known or that don't come from a certain studio are hugely overlooked. And don't even get me started with the "Best Girl" and "Best Boy" categories which are completly ridiculous.

Many users have done math on the voting, and have proven that it was manipulated. In some categories, the votes are even decreasing during the voting time, which is impossible. Many shows also get 1-2% of the votes, which is simply not possible.

Furthermore, many shows that are already very old and don't even have a second season (like Kissanime for example) appear in the categories "Anime of the Year" or "Best Action Anime". This just doesn't make any sense at all.

And now to the last point: The presenters. I know that the Anime Awards are an American ceremony, but then I would have expected at least one Japanese presenter. But no. The presenters are all from America and have absolutely nothing to do with anime except that they may have seen one or another show. This just makes it look like they don't even care about the anime community.

To be honest I was not surprised that Suletta from Gunpla won the "Best Girl" award. But seeing her beat out characters like Maruko Chan, Chihiro or Izzy, it just hurts your heart. But I would like to say that I don't hate Suletta or anything, but she is absolutly not on the same level as the other four. And I know that the Anime Awards are not the best indicator of a show's quality, but still... This is just completly absurd.

This post was written because a few days ago I saw a video from a channel I completly trust, in which the creator expressed his opinion about the Anime Awards. And I had to agree with him on many things, so I decided to write this post as well. I completly agree with him that the Anime Awards absolutely don't mean anything to him, nor to me, nor to many other people. It's really just for fun and has absolutely nothing to do with how good an anime is. If something wins two or three awards, that doesn't change anything about the quality of the anime. Not only anime but also many other things like music or movies are affected by this problem. I think the Grammy's are a good example. There are countless examples over there, and I think some of you know what I mean.
