Let me just preface that I know a lot of you are going to believe that I am overreacting and we should let science progress so in year XXXX we can cure blah blah blah blah blah. But I am not going to get into that.

I think we all saw the recent news that the police used ancestry DNA tests to find the infamous Golden State Killer. See, what I believe is happening, and not only in America, is that more and more people are taking these tests and governments are slowly getting access to them and I don't think that's good.

What if your government decides to round up certain "races" of people and ancestry DNA tests are what they use to decide who is pure enough to stay and who is not?

And the best part is that it is 100% legal. If a relative of yours decided to take an ancestry DNA test, they just gave the government permission to track you without a warrant. They can access all information on your relatives and find you.

The police can already access "public" DNA databases. They can find out who your relatives are, find them, get a court order, compel them to give a DNA sample, and if that sample is a partial match to a crime scene, they can get a warrant to get your DNA.

I feel like the biggest problem is that they are able to compel people to give DNA samples without a warrant. In my opinion that is a huge violation of privacy.
