AITA for telling my mom she’s being selfish and that she needs to get a job.

I am 19 f. I have been paying rent to my mother since I was 16. She and my father are divorced. He pays child support. I also have a job. I work around 30 hours a week and go to school full time. I am starting to reduce my hours because I need to focus on school. I told my mother I will be reducing my hours and she asked why. I told her I need to focus on school. She said well then you need to pay more to make up for it. I said I really can’t. I said it isn’t really fair that I have to pay rent. I pay close to 700. I do elaborate on that. It’s expensive where I live and my mom pays 1700. Plus I pay utilities and wifi. So I pay way more than 700 but I said it to my mom as an estimate. <br><br>My mom was like well you can pay more. I don’t think so. I said I’m not going to but I will look for a new job and get a second job. I love my job and I don’t want to leave but I said that to my mom. She was like well you should because you should be able to afford to live with me. I said why do I have to work a second job for you when you can get a job as well. This turned into a huge argument. She was like no. I don’t need to get a job. I told her she had been a bitch to me and that I’m acting out just like my brother. I hate my brother. He is a hoe and a piece of shit. My mom started crying because she thought I was being mean. I told her she needed to get a job and stop expecting everyone else to pay her. I told her I hate the fact that I have to pay her just to live under her roof. She said she’s my mother and she’s supposed to take care of me. I don’t want her to. I want to take care of myself. She said grow up and stop talking like that to your mother. I said I will when she stops expecting everyone else to pay her. She was like well your father doesn’t pay me enough. I saw her phone and his texts and she wants him to pay her 1000 more a month. And she told him she’s having trouble paying bills. I told her she needs to get a job and stop expecting everyone else to pay her. She blew up at me. I do pay for a lot of groceries. I have been paying for groceries since I was 15. She doesn’t pay for my food. My dad does. He pays for my insurance. She pays for my phone. But I pay for my own car insurance. My dad pays for half of my tuition and I pay for the other half. I told her she needs to stop relying on everybody else and stop thinking she needs to be rescued. I told her she needs to rescue herself. I told her she is being so fucking selfish and that she needs to grow up. I told her I’m acting out because I don’t think it’s fair and I’m tired of her being so mean to me. She was like I’m your mother and I will do what I want. I was like f yeah I’m your daughter and I will do what I want. She was like well you’re living under my roof and you will do what I say. I was like wow. Yea I will. I told her she needs to stop letting my brother in the house at night when he does not live here. He got kicked out a week ago. I don’t like him. He was living here and was supposed to pay rent. I did not want my brother living here. She told me it was a good opportunity for him. My brother already owed over 4k. And I was like it’s not fair to me. She said I’m your mother and I will do what I want. She was like he is your brother and he is struggling. I was like he is not struggling. He’s a piece of shit. Some night he would come home drunk and I would have to take care of him. I did not want to do that. And he would have girls over and I would wake up to some random girl in the living room. I did not like having my brother live here and I did not want to. I told her I did not want to. And she was like well you will put up with it. I did. For a few months and then I told her she needed to kick him out. I couldn’t take it anymore. And she did. And now she keeps letting him in at night. I think it’s fucking ridiculous. <br><br>Anyway. Back to the point. I told my mom she needs to get a job as soon as possible and she needs to stop letting my brother in the house at 2 am. And if she doesn’t get a job soon I will cut my hours and find somewhere else to live. I told her she needs to act like an adult. I said it’s not fair to me that I work my ass off and have to pay her just to live under her roof. I pay 700 and she doesn’t even pay for my food or my car insurance or anything. I told her she’s being so selfish and she needs to grow up. She was like I’m not being selfish. She’s like I’m your mother and I need to take care of you. I told her I don’t have a problem paying rent. I just don’t want to pay her. I don’t think that’s fair. I said she can’t rely on me or my dad or my brother. We are not her parents. We are her children. She was like well you’re my daughter and you will do what you’re told. I was like I’m not gonna. And she was like well fine don’t pay me then. I was like I’m not gonna. And she was like you need to get a second job. I’m not gonna. I told her she needs to grow up and get a job. I said I’m tired of her trying to take advantage of me and my brother and my father. I told her she needs to stop telling people she’s struggling to pay bills. I told her she can get a job. She was like you can’t tell me what to do. I was like I’m not. I’m just telling you what I’m gonna do. I told her if she doesn’t get a job soon she will regret it. And she was like I’m not afraid. I told her she needs to start being afraid. She was like you need to grow up. I was like you do too. I told her she needs to get a grip. She was like well you need to learn some fucking respect. I told her I don’t respect her. I was like this is what you get when you treat your children like shit. I told her she’s been treating me like shit since I was 11. She was like well I’m sorry. I said I don’t want an apology. She was like I can’t believe you’re taking like this response. I told her I’ve been like this for a while. I told her she’s treating me like a fucking baby. I told her that isn’t gonna work for me. I told her she needs to stop talking to me like I’m a baby and she needs to stop treating me like a baby. I told her I’m an adult. I’m not a kid. I don’t need to be babied. She was like I will never stop treating you like my baby. I’m tired of this and I don’t know what to do. But I know I’m not gonna pay her to live there. I don’t think that’s fair. I didn’t want my brother living there and I don’t want to live there. But I have nowhere to go. My grandma lived with me until I was 11 and then she moved to another state. I really don’t want to live with her. She is a bitch. I told my mom she needs to stop acting like a child and she needs to stop treating me like one. She was like I will never stop treating you like my baby. I’m tired of this and I don’t know what to do. But I know I’m not gonna pay her to live there. I don’t think that’s fair. I didn’t want my brother living there and I don’t want to live there. But I have nowhere to go. My grandma lived with me until I was 11 and then she moved to another state. I really don’t want to live with her. She is a bitch. She was mean to me but she loves me. I don’t know what to do. But I know I’m not gonna pay her anymore because I think it’s fucked up that I have to pay to live there.
