How do you decide on the language you want to learn?

I have already learned 4 languages and I always struggle to decide on the next one. I'm trying to analyze the pros and cons of each language, hobbies, personal goals and dreams, but still find it difficult. Do you watch YouTube? Is it possible to make friends in this language? Is there a cultural interest? How many people speak it worldwide? Do I need to learn a different alphabet to learn it? For example, I would love to learn Japanese, but I find the alphabet totally confusing. And what about the difficulty level? I know that I can learn every language, I can study twice as much for a more difficult language if I really want to, but I have to consider the amount of time I need to dedicate to it, because I can't study Japanese for 10 years and not be interested in other languages.

Personally, I have studied English, Spanish, French and German. I'm very interested in Russian and Arabic, but the alphabet scares me a bit. I'm not very interested in Asian culture, but I have a huge love for the Portuguese language and Brazil. I also think it would be very interesting to learn Italian, Swedish or Dutch.

Do you choose languages because they seem easy or difficult? Do you think about the number of speakers? Or do you focus on one country or culture? How do you decide?
