When I was a kid, everyone you could be anything you want. Doctor, astronaut, President, police officer, baseball player. What they don’t tell you is you most likely won’t be what you want.
For example, everyone wants to be a doctor. I’m currently in school to be one. Over 70% of people who apply to medical school don’t get in. 70%. It’s easily the most competitive field.

You can’t tell a kid “it’s okay, you can be anything you want.” No. You can’t. e: You’ll be what you can be based on ability and merit. The field I am in now has forced me to grow up. I don’t mean that I can’t be anything, I mean what I said above. You have to be realistic and know that you can’t be whatever you want.

Edit: I don’t mean that you can’t try. It’s something on my mind, and I just wrote this up quick.

Edit2: I know I wrote this poorly. I am not saying that people can’t be anything. I am saying that not everyone can be anything. There are requirements for every job. So, everyone can’t be anything.
