The following happened 3 hours ago, and I am still shaking so forgive me if I ramble.

I am 17, and have been babysitting these 2 small children (2 & 5) for around 8 months regularly. I usually get to the house at around 5pm, after I finish school and stay till 10pm. The parents usually give me around $100 each time.

This evening, the parents told me they would be heading out later than expected and asked if I would be okay to get there at around 11pm instead of 5. I said yes, as I didn’t have anything planned.

I finish school at 3:15pm. So, this means I was to stay at home for 7 hours so I decided to bring my homework to the house and do it till I am due to get there.
As of late, my neighbourhood has had break ins. They aren’t just looking to steal stuff but it’s as if they are looking for someone.
As a result I now lock my front door even when I am home. But when I am doing homework, I like to sit in the dining room which is in the middle of the hallway, closer to the front door but still far from it.
I plugged my earphones in and was busy doing my homework.
It was around 5pm when I noticed movement behind me so I turned around to see one of my friends walking towards me.
I was startled, but I didn’t want him to see me scared so I tried to act as normal as possible. He approached me got closer and stood by my side and said hi.
I said hi back and asked him how he got in. He laughed and said he had the keys but he didn’t have the house key. So, he walked through the front door and into the house. When I asked him what he was doing there, he said he was in the neighbourhood and decided to drop by.
I told him that I wasn’t expecting him and that I am home alone by myself doing homework.
I work and study full time so I usually don’t have time to meet up with friends often so I knew he wasn’t telling the truth.
I then asked him again how he got in, I finally coaxed it out of him that he had “found” the key under the mat outside the door.
That key is for emergencies and in case one of us lock the keys inside the house.
So I confronted him again if he was telling the truth or lying. I asked him if he had a key all this while why didn’t he tell me and why wasn’t he coming to visit me if he had a key.
I work and study full time, but my friend on the other hand is jobless, and is living with his parents still. So, he literally has all the time in the world.
He finally admitted that he didn’t find the key and that he had been watching me when I left the house earlier and followed me to school.
He saw me open the front door and placed the key under the mat when I wasn’t looking.
He said he used the key to get in and wait for me to get home. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say.
I then asked him to leave. he said no so I went to call the police and as I was trying to get my phone out of my bag he wrestled the phone off me. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to do so I just ran towards the back of the house.
I knew the front door was locked I double triple checked it before sitting down to do my homework. So, I knew he couldn’t get out through the front door.
I ran to the back and into my room and I shut the door and locked it. I was shaking to the core, I didn’t know what to do. I was alone and scared.
As my room has large windows, I knew he could get in through there if he wanted to so I moved the dresser in front of it.
At that point, I started hearing banging and banging and him saying for me to open the door. I shouted back I wasn’t going to open it and to leave me alone.
He then tried to force the door open but it didn’t budge.
I started to feel a chill so I looked around my room and realised it was cold so I looked to see if my window was open this is when I noticed it was wide open! I was freeing and I know it was closed when I got home.
There are no trees near my window for him to climb through but, the way my house is structured, if someone were to climb over the fence, they could easily get to my window if they wanted to.
As I was watching t.v before I started doing my homework I am positive I didn’t open it. I don’t know if he somehow opened it but, the way my window functions it’s hard to open it from the outside.
I heard him trying to force the door open again, at that point, I knew I had to get the authorities. I didn’t have a phone, but I had a tablet beside me. It’s an old one I found while cleaning my room so I decided to keep it.
I saw it there and I opened it, thankfully it worked and it had around 1% battery left so I quickly called the authorities and they said they were on their way.
I was still hearing the banging and shouting but, I wasn’t going to open the door.
By this time, the battery was dying so I texted my mom to let her know I was scared and that there was someone in my house.
The battery then died. I was still in my room, after 10 mins the police arrived. I heard them knocking on the door. I say around 5-6 officers.
I heard the police shouting at him to open the door. I heard the front door open.
I then heard my friend shouting at them that the owner wasn’t home and that he didn’t do anything.
He shouted back he was my friend and that he was just worried about me and that’s why he was there.
My mom was on her way home, thankfully the police believed me they didn’t believe him at all.
They asked him to show his ID and he couldn’t. They said they were going to take him in.
I still hadn’t come out at this point.
I heard my mom opening the front door and shouting at my friend that how dare he was her son’s friend and he had no right to do this.
The police then told my mom what had happened.
She was so shocked and angry.
The police took him away and they called me out.
My mom was so shaken, and angry. I was crying so much. I am still shaking.
The police took my statement and they said they would be speaking to my friend.
My mom is now on her way to file a report and I am staying home with my dad.
I am still shaken and I don’t know what to do.
I feel violated. I feel messed up in the head. I don’t know if I can ever be alone at home.
I keep looking at all the windows and doors.
I am still so shaken.

I am just thankful nothing happened to me and that the police arrived just in time.

I am going to stay with my friend tonight because I don’t feel safe alone.

Sorry if this was too long.
