Anyone else find it interesting that there are thousands of job openings in your states for teachers, but the media only talks about teacher shortages?

I’ve been looking for a teaching job in my state for a few months now. Talking to other teachers, my professors, and already established educators, they all say that teachers are in a labor shortage and that I will have no problem finding a job. I’ve applied with a few districts in my area, and so far I’ve gotten absolutely nothing back except a few emails inviting me to join the sub pool. I have also noticed that if I look on my states website, there is an insane amount of job postings for teaching jobs. It’s not just for more specialized or hard to find jobs either, tons of elementary, social studies, English, mathematics. I know that I’m not the only one having this issue, so I’m curious as to where the shortage is?
