Which magic system would you most like to live in? Which magic system do you think would cause the most societal upheaval?

I think that there's definitely a difference in what people like and what would actually cause the most change.

For example, I'd love to live in the magic system of *The Magicians* by Lev Grossman, where magic is real and not magic. It's a lot more "human" magic. However, I'm guessing that this magic would be really hard to discover. Magic is really hard to figure out in *The Magicians*, since it's based on speech and movement and is not really something that you can explain.

I'm guessing that the magic from *Kingkiller Chronicle* would cause the most social upheaval. It's magic that you'd have the best chance of figuring out by yourself without having to learn it from someone else. I read an interview where Patrick Rothfuss said that he thinks that magic could be real in the world, and that's why he wrote it in the style that he did. I think that we'd have the best chance of figuring out magic like in *Kingkiller Chronicle*, and that magic would change the world the most. Civilizations would be built around magic, we'd have magic academies, magic production is not hard so we could power our cities with magic, we'd go back to the moon and Mars and the rest of the planets sooner, magic would be used to clean pollution, magic is used in medicine, magic is used as a weapon.

*Harry Potter* magic is not good for the real world, since magic is right out of fairy tales, and is hard to figure out. Some magic comes from magic creatures, and it's hard to figure out magic with magic creatures. I think that magic would be discovered sooner or later, but magic would not be used to help society. It would be kept secret and magic communities would form, like in *Harry Potter*. The wizarding community in *Harry Potter* has completely different technology, since technology and magic combine weirdly. There's no reason that magic and technology can't exist together, and magic and technology could even help each other advance, but I think that magic would be its own tech advance. It would be hard for magic and technology to advance together, since you would have to be good at both, and I think that those people would be hard to come by.
