How to get A's in college when you've been a mediocre student your entire life

Hey guys, I'm currently a junior and I've never been a strong student. I was a C student in high school, and no better in community college. I always knew I wanted to do well, but I just couldn't seem to do well on tests, and I really didn't put a lot of effort into doing homework. I knew technically I could do better, but it was always a struggle to get myself to care enough to put in the work.

But this last semester I managed to turn that all around (25 credits, 4 A's), and the semester before that I got (24 credits, 4 A's, 1 B+).

The biggest part of doing better for me was getting diagnosis and treatment for ADHD. My doctor put me on adrafinil and it makes a huge difference. But what also makes a big difference is learning to think of yourself as a strong student.

I know it sounds silly, but it really works. If you tell yourself that you're not good at school, you're not going to be. You need to believe in yourself.

Another huge thing is to get regular exercise. For me I like to hike and lift, but I think that anything that’s active is much better than nothing. This is especially important if you’re in a place with little sunlight during the winter.
