Was it a weird fetish or a genuine attempt to abduct me?

One time I was at the mall with my friend (I was around 10 years old, and my friend was 11). I went to the food court and bought some McDonalds chicken nuggets. I had a small box with 4 chicken nuggets, and I thought it was too little for me. I asked my friend if she could buy me another box of chicken nuggets, and I would pay her back later. I gave her the money, and she went to buy the nuggets for me.<br><br>While I was waiting for my friend to come back, I noticed a guy (who was around 40 years old) sitting on the table in front of me. He was constantly staring at me, and I felt like he was watching me the entire time. I tried to ignore him at first, but it started to freak me out. <br><br>When my friend came back, she asked me "what's up with that dudes? He keeps staring at us". I was like "I know, right". <br><br>The guy didn't say anything during our entire conversation. He just sat there like a statue, staring at us creepily. <br><br>After finishing my food, we decided to leave the food court. As we stood up, the guy stood up as well. He started walking behind us, and my friend noticed it. She asked me "Do you think he's following us?". I said "I don't know, let's find out". <br><br>We stopped at a random storefront to see if the guy would stop as well. Guess what? He stopped too. My friend and I were kind of scared, and we didn't know what to do.<br><br>My friend came up with a brilliant idea. She suggested that we pretend to talk on the phone. She called my mom, and I started talking to her as if she was my boyfriend. I said things like "I love you so much", "You're so hot", "I want to see you so bad", etc. <br><br>The guy started to walk away, and my friend and I thought that he was gone for good. We stopped our "phone call" and were ready to continue shopping.<br><br>When we turned a corner, we saw the guy again. He was holding a shopping bag with holes in it (like something out of a cartoon). He looked at us with a creepy smile on his face, and said "do you want to come with me?". <br><br>My friend and I were terrified, but we didn't wanna make it obvious that we were scared. We tried to play it cool, and said something like "yeah sure, where are we going?". The guy didn't respond. He just looked at us with his creepy smile.<br><br>We pretended to be interested in going with him, and we slowly backed away towards the crowd. The guy started walking towards us slowly, and we kept on backing away while pretending that we were still interested in going with him. <br><br>When we were far away enough, we ran as fast as we could towards the nearest store. We didn't stop running until we lost the guy. <br><br>We told the store staff about the creepy guy, but they couldn't find him. <br><br>My friend and I were scared since we didn't know what the hell was going on. We thought that maybe the guy had some kind of weird fetish since he stopped following us when we pretended to talk on the phone. We also thought that maybe he wanted to abduct us, and the shopping bag was for us. <br><br>We didn't tell our parents because we thought they would never let us go to the mall again. But we never forgot about the creepy guy who tried to abduct us, or the shopping bag with holes in it.
