Let's assume AGI isn't coming in the next few years.

Of course, this is a wrong assumption but it's the base of the discussion. If that's the case, why do we have huge corporations like Google, Meta, and Microsoft investing billions of dollars into AI. I don't know about Google but Meta and Microsoft seem to be going all in on AI. What do they know that we don't?

If we all agree that AGI is inevitable at some point, the big corporations have access to more information and would probably have more knowledge on the topic than we do. This would mean that they should be more aware of the time left before AGI than a random individual on the internet. So, why is everyone going all in on AI when we all agree that AGI is inevitable in the long run?

What I'm saying is that we would most likely have AGI in a few years because the big corporations know something that we don't.

Edit: I'm being downvoted by people who are saying that Microsoft, Meta, and Google don't know more about AGI than us. Not sure how you can come to that conclusion. I don't think it's fair to compare what big corporations know compared to what a random guy knows here on this sub.
